Clearing a blocked drain (rodding, jetting) removes whatever's causing the blockage at that moment, but it doesn't fix a damaged pipe. If the same spot blocks again within weeks or months, that's a strong signal the pipe itself has an issue: a crack or gap letting tree roots in, a section that's sunk out of alignment and now holds debris instead of letting it flow through, or a partially collapsed section narrowing the pipe.
Tree root ingress is one of the most common repeat-blockage causes — roots seek out the moisture inside a drain and can enter through even a small crack or joint gap, then grow inside the pipe and catch debris every time water flows past. Clearing the blockage removes the immediate obstruction but leaves the roots (and the crack that let them in) in place, so it happens again.
